I running Accel wires and Bosch platinum plus 4's. I know they make the wires in yellow, just have fun putting the together. Dead Link Removed

I run the Bosch P 4's also. They are excellent plugs that will outlast any other plug! You can run the P 4's for 100,000 miles without loosing the quality of the spark! They are more $$$ but you don't have to replace them as often as standard plugs or even splitfire. Splitfire only uses one pin split into 2 on the end. The Bosch has 4 sperate ones. Good Luck!

I run NGK Platinums and Jacobs wires. I gapped the plugs 0.005 over factory gap and am getting about 10% better fuel mileage.

I recently installed Bosch 4+ platinum for $5.95 each. I'm supposed to install a Split Fire Dual Core but they send me the wrong wire. 4 wires were short so I returned them and used the old wires instead. Anyway, I noticed a very good improvement already! I can't wait to install the Split Fire wires. It's a good combination they said.

I installed the Bosch +4 and Splitfire Dual combination last Sunday and they really do make the difference in the performance of the engine. Yes the wires are Blue, but that only makes them more noticeable when you pop the hood.

This combo was definitly worth the money spent.

True, this is a great combo (4+ & Dual Core wires). Installing was not so easy though. The passenger side ones were easy, but the driver side ones where a pain. They are barried under the top of the engine, I even had to cut one of the old wires to remove it.

The new ones I put over the engine and used most of the guides provided with the kit.

Did anyone else experience this? How did you handle it?

I did some hunting around on this subject, and my choices are probably going to be Splitfire wires, and Bosch Platinum (not +4s) spark plugs. The Bosch Plat's are worth CDN$6.50/pr, and the +4s are worth CDN$18.00/pr. So the +4s are $34.50 more; and I just don't know if they're worth it. Maybe they last longer, but I could buy nearly 3 sets of the std platinums before matching the price of the +4s. But then again, changing them is a pain (so I hear).

If it sounds like I am undecided, you guessed right.

Jambo-The Bosch P+4 will take alot to foul them. This might be a consideration in the price as well. Also the P+4 has an exposed core electrode with four coming from the sides thus a open spark to the combustion chamber. Better combustion should equate to better performance. They'll work well with the Splitfire wires.

Okay, okay. I'm leaning a bit more towards the +4's now. Having a horizontal spark may offer better performance than a vertical spark which is also somewhat behind the ground electrode... I was reading yesterday on the NGK web site that racers are concerned with what direction the electrode points. But they said this makes typically about 1% difference. Maybe 5hp if you have a 500 hp engine! 1.6 hp at best for us.

Hey guys,

Got some part numbers for the wires and plugs? (for the 245 OHV 95 motor).

Thanks in advance.

The part number for Splitfire wires is WS6612 for my '96 OHV. I believe it is the same for '95. I don't know the numbers for the plugs.
