I scored a spot light from a CV for 5$ at the local pull a part and I want to install it on my explorer. Now they have installation kits out there but they are about 60$ and I already have the parts needed just need some measurements of where the mount will go.

So my question is Who has one installed already? I know I've seen a few members with them but I can't remember who they are.

Here's a crappy pic of an ex with one.

It's the only one I have found on the net so far.

Here's a pic of the light I have.

Bump. Anyone even have a picture of a 1st or 2nd gen with a spotlight on it?

Awesome thanks for the help.

I knew Alec had one because he did a write uo on it but the pics no longer work and he's not too active on here any more.

I'm gonna post in black91eb's registry and see if he'll take some pics for me.

your welcome, happy i could help

as someone who installs the unity spotlights on police cars regularly,i can give some advice that may help. first the crown vic light may or my not work, there are several different length shafts and different vehicles take different lengths.also the install kits are vehicle specific a 2002 crown vic kit will not fit a 2010 and so forth due to the angle of the a pillar. also the install kit has a brass bushing that you drill thru which aligns the whole assembly on the a pillar. you will need a special drill bit that is only sold by unity to do it right. don't get me wrong anything is possible with enough thought and money. i am just speaking from the experience that comes from installing well over 100 of these spotlights. if you were close i would be glad to install it for you provided that we got the proper light and mounting kit.

Thanks for the advice I'll keep it in mind but I think I have a way figured out how to make what I have work.

I've contacted both people posted above that had spot lights but neither still has the vehicle so as pf now I'm on my own. I'm in the middle of doin some work on my bumpers so It'll be a while before I get to installing it. In the mean time I'll be searching for more info on it.

Are you still interested in spotlight mounting? I have a 2003 Explorer ex-police vehicle with a spotlight.

I had one on my old 94. You can contact unity & get the bracket for the pillar. It requires drilling a hole into the pillar & then into the inside trim piece.
They make a kit or rather did. Not sure if they still do. Had a template you tapped to the pillar & drilled the hole.
I don't have any better pics, but you can see mine in these.

Yes I am. The 03's are diff than the 91-01's though but some pics would be nice so I can see how it's done on the newer ones if you don't mind.

Thanks. I saw your registry on this one and noticed you didn't have it anymore so I didn't bother askin if you could get any better pics or measurements. Thanks for postin the pics though.

on your truck the light will mount to the door not the a pillar you will need a 29rh mounting kit the 325h light will work . if you call unity they will fax you the template. i had them fax me one today it was a little stretched so be sure you line it up right you will need a 12" long 1/2 " drill bit to use with the kit
