Once again I seek guidance from the audio gurus here.

I wanted ( and actually got a gift certificate for them for Christmas ) but when I ordered them ( on line ) from Crutchfield. I got a call back from them saying that the speakers will not work in my front doors due to being to “tall” as they said it.

Whats the deal, I hear so much about folks using these speakers, can they be used in my 99?

Thanks……

Well, I have a '91, but they fit fine in my front doors...I'd like to know if this is actually a problem though, so I'll subscribe to the thread :)

the people that answer the phone are reading off the computer screen. they dont really know. also, crutchfield has given incorrect information many times. look in the catalog for example. i have a 92 explorer. according to crutchfield, i cant put a CD player in it:rolleyes:.

there are plenty of people with them in their explorers.
i dont see a problem, especially since the factory grill comes out a little bit from the speaker location.

A lot of people have installed the dX7's, so they should fit your '99. I had no problems with my '01 Sport Trac, but Ford changed the door panels, so the height of the peaker grille may be a bit different.

I just got some of those speakers, They fit perfect in the front doors, little snug, but they fit good. Sound is way better than the factory speakers. Glad I finally changed them out.

Hmm, if they don't, just make them fit. Custom work can be fun.
