I'm doing my research about a month ahead of time, but I want to have all of the quirks sorted out by the time I get the cash so all of the purchases will go smoothly.

With that being said, I have a '98 5.0 AWD that is being turned into an off-roader. I plan to start with a 2" TT/Shackles, but I need some advice on poly bushings. Is it wise to go with poly bushings for an offroad vehicle? I only want to get the X alligned once, so I'll likely install new bushings, shackles and do the TT right before I get my new tires and then directly to the allignment shop I'll go. Anyways, I've done a search on poly bushings and I can't find a complete kit for my '98. I've found all kinds of stuff for the 1st gens, and EE has a few pieces I can use, but no full kits that include everything. Do they exist? Where can I get one?

DA DA DA DA! Jon to the rescue again! Thanks man.

Go figure on the price though. It seems that whatever part I'm buying, it is always the most expensive one for my vehicle. I've seen full poly kits for other vehicles for like $89.99... this one is $268.

Gotta pay if you're gonna play.

Should I even be looking at poly bushings for an off-roader though? Or would it be better to just get some factory style replacements from Moog or someone of the like.

I'll tell ya what. I'm willing to do it if you toss me $3500. :-D

On a more serious note, what do you think about poly bushings in an off-road application. The X is still going to be a daily driver so it won't be fully dedicated to off-roading. At 139,000 miles, I've worked most of the kinks out of it that were present when I bought it with 127,000. I know its due for some new bushings though... has to be. I'd like to replace most, if not all, at once to ease my mind.

So lets get some opinions on Poly vs. Traditional bushings in off-roaders.

Poly is typically higher maintenance and performance. Poly relies on lubrication for rotational slippage. Rubber flexes and will rotate with without lubrication. Poly is more rigid, rubber is more flexable. Which is better? depends on if you are **** about maintenance. IMO for most people rubber is better.
