I need some help... I just got a homemade 4 inch lift put on the 93 exploder with some 35 inch tires.... She is a beast in the mud when running haha...

Anyways thats besides the point... I was driving it yesterday and she just up and died on me... I smelt the magic smoke of some electronics burning and smoke was rising from the passenger floor board... We also noticed one of the injector wires possibly shorted out...

She cranks but acts like she isnt getting any fuel... SO my question is did I fry the computer (almost sure of it ) and what computers will work on mine so I can try to find one in a junkyard... Need help asap, got a 4x4 event coming next weekend!!!!

93 exploder =(
XLT
automatic 4x4
axle code is 46 - can someone tell me what gears I have?

Try and find one from the same year. A 94 might work as well. A 91 won't work, because it reports the codes differently, and a 92 won't work either I believe (due to some sensor changes), but i'm not sure.

Manual vs Automatic won't work. If you stick a manual transmission equipped computer in an automatic, you will lose 4th gear and overdrive.

You have an open axle with 3.73's.

Make sure you fix that injector wire short, you might burn up your new one.

I found a 94 explorer 4x4 auto sport at a local junk yard... Going to check it out when I get off... I was looking at Oriellys website and there are different numbers for the computers... mine has the F37F-ZB in it... I "ASS"ume the other computers they have listed are for manual and California emissions?

Thanks for the replies guys... Hopefully I can fix the shorted wire on the injector...

Zoomboom I will keep you in mind

OK the computer that I pulled out of the 94 Explorer Sport 4x4 4.0 automatic has a different number than the one in mine... Does it matter?

Mine F37F-ZB
other F47F-NB

Everything is the same on the motor... Except the sport has California Emissions on it... The computer doesnt have anything to do with that crap though I dont think?

Any input would be appreciated before I stick this thing in Friday...

According to this the "NB" is a standard system, and the same herefor the ZB so according to that site, niether have cali-emissions, it could be wrong though, I have no experience with this and just pulled that from google.

Ok I replaced the injectors and injector wires and clips. Plugged in the new computer... she runs which is better than it was (not running)... It is running really rough like it is getting too much fuel... I can stick my hand behind the exhaust pipe and it smells like gas... I also can take 3 coil wires off one side of the coil pack and it idles like it should... Any ideas?

Your "new" 94 sequential fire computer does not like your 93 batch fire harness.

Check me if I am wrong--
look at your fuel injector wires. One side (bank) has white and red wires, the other side ( bank) has tan and red wires. Sequential fire ( late 93 and up) have multi colored fuel injector wires. You need a early 93 ecm for batch fire injection.

The ecm configurations are completely different. egr and cam sensor wires are in the 94 harness, which your 93 does not have. This mixes up all the pin configuration from one ecm to another.

I have a spare 93 ecm without cam sensor or egr, for batch fire injectors. Send me a pm

Ah that makes total sense

Just incase others have this same question and ever look at this post... Turdle is correct... The 94 I pulled the ECM off of had multi-colored injector wires and mine did not...
