Hello everybody,

I'm currently having problems with my power liftgate twisting my truck and causing the passenger side to rub on the bumper. I have straightened it many times and yes the bolts are tight. Is it possible to delete the power shocks and just add the normal liftgate shocks?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jason

You should be able to disable the power liftgate in the settings and just use it manually. No need to change any hardware. I don't know why the "twisting" would occur in the first place. Is your powered strut on the driver's side or passenger side?
This is a first in the forum.

The powered strut is on the drivers side. It pushes the tailgate out away from the car and the passenger side gets pulled in. This causes the lock to be off set often.

When the powered strut closes the liftgate it should not push the liftgate out as it is pulling it down and in. Have you tried opening and closing it manually to see if there is perhaps some binding going on?

I have been using it manually for about 3 weeks now, I have inspected it and looks like there's nothing binding. I have also disconnected the wiring to the powered strut. I wasent sure if these would still work manually, or I needed to swap them out.

Is the non-powered side maybe failing? If its not moving with the power side it would cause what you are describing. I would replace the manual strut and see what happens.

Thanks, I'll order one and try that.
