Hello

I have a leak coming from the rack area.

What's more common? rack leaking or power steer lines?

slow leak.

Probably just a line. My explorer had the same thing. Just keep a few jugs of power steering fuel with you until you can bring it in to get checked out, unless you can do it yourself. Not too big of a problem :)

Hello

Was it the high side or low side?

Looks like the long line. at connection to the rack.

Thinking i would need to flush the system as well.

Normally it is the high pressure side and it is always a good idea to flush the system out. Your steering performance will be noticeably improved if it has never been done.

My steering leak was caused by a bad O ring where the pressure line entered the rack. I bought a seal kit to re-do the rack but only used the one O ring. This might be the place to start.

I tried Lucas Power Steering Leak Fix, it worked for over 2 years until I replaced the whole rack. Mine is leaking at the rack and pinion boots, so the inner seal is shot. Not sure if that will work on the steering lines, usually it's a bad teflon o-ring.
