Ok here's the deal, i just replaced everything in the front end of my ex including the steering rack. Upon refilling the power steering and starting the ex the pump whines like crazy and the wheels will not turn at all. What could be causing this?? Did i get a faulty rack?

...it sounds like you have air in the system...there is a thread here somewhere and i believe there is a way to prime the system first...

Thanks Ted, ive been searching. I found a thread that says keep the wheels off the ground and keep turning back and forth so im gonna try that after lunch. Damnit i took the day off to finally finish the thing and its gonna treat me like this lol..

You might have air trapped. What I usually do is run it, turn the wheel a few times, let it sit so the air can rise into the pump, repeat several times as necessary. They can be tough to bleed sometimes.

The other item I would check, there is a check valve that goes into the rack before hooking up the lines, if that is missing it will cause major problems. When you changed the rack, the reman rack might not have had this checkvalve. Some rebuilders include this part, some you have to take the one out of the old rack.

Of course the lines have to be hooked up correctly:)

Check valve huh?? When i compared the old and new racks the were 100% identical so im hoping i didnt miss anything lol. As far as the lines go im assuming the inlet from the pump goes in the top fitting and the return line through the cooler is the bottom fitting?

Here are the pics, it seems to be leaking now so im gonna go back out and try to see from where.

After reading a few other threads and looking at some pictures it looks like i might have the lines reversed. Which line goes where?? On mine i have the top fitting hooked up to the power steering line and the bottom fitting if hooked up to the cooler.

...izwack knows alot about steering...;)
