Pre-Moab Rig Fixing Get-Together!

Not likely I would spend more time driving than anything else

Joe, do think we can figure out a way to get the tranny up here before Sat?

I think I have a buyer and this group of guys could probably install it PDQ.

I night have to come down Friday night.

Yuk!!!!, I hate tranny replacements. That's gonna cost extra. It's not the tranny that is a pain though, it's getting the exhaust bolts out without breaking thebolts in the manifolds.

Start soaking them in PB blaster now!!!

OK, I couldn't stand not knowing so I ran down to O'Reileys and picked my own guage for $40.

Not perfect but not as bad as I feared.
210,000 miles
Starting at the Left front;
150
148
147
Right front;
162
155
160

As Kevin suggested, we'll run compression on a couple other rigs for comparison

as far as id say. ur gaskets are fine. start worrying when u lose compression and your coolant looks brown with sludgy **** in it.

Sounds like he already has that covered so we won't need to do it Saturday ;)

I'm going to bring the 2WD White Explorer.....The 5.0L/4R70W & 2nd Gen dash swap is complete...and none of you guys have seen it!

Well...it has gone and happened again.

I have to work on sat. I have no choice. I made comitments to Ford Motor Company on behalf of Goodyear, and I need to follow through.

As Kevin asked me, that does mean the shop is not available (since my folks are out of town), but I can still donate the steel. It would just have to be picked up Friday night.

Sorry guys, but Ford is calling, and sales suck.

Anyone wanna buy a tire?

Well damn. Okay, quick scramble. Either back to plan A at Paul's place or my place. Let's make a quick decision and nail down the details.

Since I'm NOT doing head gaskets, everything on my list is general maintenance type of stuff that can be done here or just about anywhere, anytime between now and departure time.

I think the location now depends on the fabrication required to get Paul's rig Moab ready. (and a BBQ and ice for the beer ;))

Okay, Paul, the decision is yours. Your place or mine? I have a BBQ too. Since Phil is doing minor maintenance and I got a little work to do on mine as well (anybody got the ball joint tools?) Let's finalize this and get our rigs ready for Moab!!!!

Okay - - We will come up to your place. As I see it, not fair to you to have to pack up all your crap and then have to drive all the way down here (only to realize the one thing we need is back in Mount Vernon) . . .

So I'll bring the Duff traction bars, new shock mounts, generic tools, and burgers, dogs, rolls, condiments, plates and flatware, and of course, beer...
Hoping someone else will 'man-up' and bring some chips, soda, ice, etc. Kevin - Got a grill?

Okay with everyone else?

Paul

Paul, stop by here on your way up and we'll fill out the menue, then head up.

What time? Here around 8:30?

Abby has street shoes on so I'm not terribly interested in running Walker Valley unless I ride with either of you.

Kevin - Got a grill?
Yes, I am a man and have a grill:thumbsup:

I have 2 HF presses, one in the truck-box for U joints. Do you need all the rings/cups too?

I am replacing my passenger side steering knuckle and need to swap out the ball joints, so yes, I will also need the cups and rings.

If your coming, confirm with a PM and I will reply with my address and phone number. It's supposed to be a nice weekend so it should be a great time.

Misty said she would make Potato salad, so don't bring that.

Who's coming...?

Paul, What time? Here around 8:30?

Phil - Thinking more like 6:30...

Figured if Kevin's gonna be ready for us by 8:00, no sense wasting time, besides, it'll give us more time to have a beer or two if we finish up "early". . .

So, based on the change in location, who's in?

(Speed) Ryan & Trixi ?
Stop&Stare ?
JPistheman ?

Any other North West Explorers out there interested in the "Meet & Greet" ? - Just trying to get a handle on the amount of food and beverage to bring up...

I'm going. :D

Nah, I can't make Mt. Vernon.. I've got dinner engagements in Shelton on Saturday. I was on the fence about driving to Kirkland and back :P

Another time maybe.. I was really hoping one of you guys could help me nail down where the squeeking/creaking in the back of my truck is coming from.

How about 7:00 at the Starbucks at the 44th St NE exit??

If we're gettin there that early, maybe Kevin should cook up a batch of '4wheeler hash' ;)

If you really want me to, I can.

Dibs on the Pony if we go to Walker Valley

It needs gas and the off road tires put on her, check wheel bearing nuts at same time. Could probably use a little airing out and a wipe down with a light bleach mixture too. Other than that, she is ready to wheel.

I already sent Kevin a PM......

Due to the distance, I cannot make the trek up to DWD's place....maybe next time.

Tacoma, Lakewood....Pierce/King Co.....would be fine...but between Ferry's and/or road travel, I just can't afford the trip.
