My gabriels just went out!?!:mad: I've had them in for 9 months and they're toast. I might could understand if I was heavy into off roading but I"m not.
So now I'm trying to decided what kind of shocks to replace them with. I'm looking to replace the front with either pro comps ($24-$34 a piece from truckperformance.com) or ranchos 5000 ($34). Any advice or opinions??

I ran the ES3000s for about 5 months, both on and offroad and they did really well, but I got a deal on a set of RS5000s and swithed over to them... the RS5000s are better offroad, but I liked the onroad ride from the ES3000s better. Both are great shocks and you really can't go wrong with either...

Two comments. First, your Gabriel's should have a lifetime warranty on them, so you can get new ones free :D. Second, when I was shopping around for new shocks, I talked to a technical service reps for Monroe. From what I was told, Monroe makes the shocks for both Pro-Comp and Rancho, so they use basically the same design. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples and not one grade of shock to another, and then buy the cheaper one.

Hmm...I didn't think about that but it doesn't matter. I hated them anyways. They hardly made a difference (if any). Maybe I just have too high of expectations for the shocks. I want something I can feel.

What about terribly bumpy roads. Birmingham has horrible roads.

What about Bilsteins? I've heard good and bad things about them. I don''t know if i want to dish out that much cash.

TOO MANY DECISIONS!!!!!!!!!:frustrate

The 3000s did a good job of sucking up the potholes and speedbumps here in Chicago, the 5000s seem to be a little stiffer and you can feel the potholes and speed bumps more than with the 3000s. You have to remember also, that I am running 33" tires with 26psi so they suck up some of the road too.

old man emu nitrochargers !

I just took off the bilsteins (after 44k on shocks}and put the ome nitro's on,and what a difference !

when I 1st put the bilsteins on....{before torsion lift}
the truck was very very firm,and only harsh in a few situations.

after the lift....it was very harsh most of the time,I tried going to 30 psi in the tire's but I found I needed a softer shock,the ome shock's are very good,firm but not harsh at all !

these are a low pressure gas shock,much heavier than the bilsteins.
