I programmed a couple of new keys for our 04 X.
I tried the trick someone here mentioned using one key 2 times (instead of 2 different keys with same procedure), it did not work for me. So, it seems 2 keys may be required.
I did lock the door while programming, as someone else here mentioned, I forgot to try with doors unlocked. I was curious if it would make a difference.
Also, a big vote of satisfaction for FordPartsNetwork.com. The first keys they sent me were cut incorrectly (I supplied my vin). They immediately sent replacements when I emailed them - didn't have to wait for returning bad ones.
I was out a few days, admittedly it was not my fault, but still, I think this was outstanding customer service. And it was a great price and so easy to begin with.
