:help: New to the forum, help! I have a '98 Explorer Sport and we've recently hooked a trailer up to it and put quite a few miles on it. We've been driving with the overdrive off, because that is what we were told to do (don't know if that has anything to do with my question, just thought I'd add that in). It was running "okay" and then all of a sudden, when you push the pedal the rpm's go up but the truck barely moves. Any suggestions? :banghead:

check your cat it's clogged no power

tranny.....maybe your torque converter is not doing its job..

is your tranny fluid level ok? Had that happen to a guy I know, turns out his tranny was really low on fluid. Filled it back up and all was well.

Sure some of the gurus will chime in...

Good luck

Does this happen at all times and in each gear R, 1st, 2nd? Is your Ex 4wd/2wd, what engine and how many miles? Whats the gross weight of what you are towing and what kind of conditions?

You never tow with the OD on so that is correct. Is your O/D Light blinking in your Dash? Thats your check engine light but for your Transmission.

Update

When you start the truck it idles fine, the only way to get the rpms to raise is by rolling on to the throttle. If you hold the pedal to the floor the idle gets rough and acts like it's trying to raise, but stays at idle, but you can smell unburned fuel. Rolling on to the throttle doesn't always get the rpms to raise, but when they do come up it runs fine, has plenty of power, and shift points are good. Most recent addition is 3in body lift, could this cause problems with something shorting (reason asking, when pulling fine and hit a bump it looses power)? It's a 4x4 2 door sport, 168000 miles, towing a 6x12 closed trailer around 1500 lbs, happens in all gears. Does it in all gears, even park.
