pvc intake

it works great, you can have the filter behind the headlight OR by the power dist box like the early 4.0L OHV

Is the Aerostar tube adjustable/bendable without breaking? How can you have it go to either behind the headlight OR by the power distro box?

It's pretty flexible compared to the explorer and ranger tubes.
I had it with the 93 power dist box inthe stock location and my KKM for a year or so, then I re-located my Optima and put it behind the headlight. Same tube.

With the 5.0L I went back to the factory battery tray again, but that tube would not fit withthe GT-40 upper intake

I thought that tube looked weird in your pic...I thought it was a 2.9 tube or something at first.

I pulled my OHV's intake tube last weekend to change the water pump and that darn tube is just about disentegrated at the TB rubber gasket end. I'm sure it's about to start leaking vac, if not already...so I need to do something...

You have that 3 piece witht he air "muffler" above the radiator? Man i hated that thing, its also made out of hard plastic compared to this thing.

I wish my 2.9L tube would have worked, that thing is rubber!
I am liking my rubber 5.0L tube, It might work with a 4.0L too...

Yeah I have that pos hard plastic tube. It's falling apart after 11 years, just like my 11 yr old HCV crumbled at the mere sight of my tube-loosening wrench.

Hey that's a thought...a 5.0 intake. It even curves around toward the power distro.

But I was thinking more along the lines of a late-model OHV intake, relocating the battery, and so on...to get it away from the engine as far as possible.

behind the headlight is perfect, I loved that setup.
cold air there.

A Gen II battery tray (d side) would be pretty easy to fit on a gen I for a battery re-locate.

I vote for just going to a junk yard that has alot of fords and look around, it seems 4 cyl, 6 cyl and different year rangers used all sorts of different airbox locations and tube shapes/sizes. Explorer, Aerostar something will work for you.

Gen2 batt's are on the driv side? Good, I always thought they were on p. side where the gen1 airbox is. I will go a yard then.

Oh, if I relo the batt to the drivers side, I would probably have to use batt cable extenders, right? That's what I'm thinking...

Extenders? yikes.
I would just buy the raw wire and rebuild the whole harness longer.
But yes you will have to extend the + cable at least over tot he new location. The ground can be "modified", it must attach to body, frame, and engine block on our trucks.

the Gen II battery tray is cool, its held in place with 3 bolts, would be easy to put in alot of different trucks. If I didnt already put my oil filter, ARB compressor and fkuid tank over there thats where my battery would go.

With the OHV you can also easily run the intake to the pass side, just have to extend the MAS and IAC wires.

i have slightly the same setup i used the 2 to 3 inch rubber adapter and cut it down some and used thin wall pvc there is clearance issues do to the hood mat and the fan shroud u can cut a inch off the shroud for a little more clearence and shave the mat a little and it fits perfect
