Guy's I've gotten tons of info from the boards concerning the disassembly and now reassembly of my SOHC. I had a bad head gasket failure and have had the heads fully rebuilt, of course am replacing all timing components while in this deep.
Doing all of my research (Haynes manual and reading hours worth of posts here) I am puzzled by the steps i am seeing. I have read both in the Haynes manual as well as on the board here that after attaching the left and right cassettes and the jackshaft chain I am supposed to turn the crankshaft over with both cam gears loose to the camshaft. I am assuming this is to ensure all chains are seated properly and aren't binding on anything. My concern is that if the crank is turned over there is one intake valve and one exhaust valve that are open, won't the piston on these two cylinders push on the valves and potentially cause problems. I understand I would be turning over with a breakover so it would be slow but I just want to confirm this step before i attempt it.
