Ive been searching around for options on what to do to the suspension of my 92. I think ive finally decided to go with a lift. I dont know what i want though. Ive been told there is a body lift for only like $200. And then I saw a 5.5" lift for like $1000. My question is what should I do? I dont go off roading. I just want to put a set of like 33's on it with a decent lift for the look only. What are my options on an extremely limited budget?

Is it a daily driver? If so you may not want to go with 33's. Find out what your axle code is. It's on the drivers door jamb under axle. Then do a search here on what that code means. Most likely they are 3.27's. 33's will suck all your power just to turn them.
For a lift... I have the skyjacker 2" that let me clear 31's. A 3" body lift on top of that should alow you to run if not 33's, then 32's. All teh info is around here. Do some searching around & you'll finds tons of info.

ok I searched fora bunch of pics but I cant find what Im looking for. Does anyone have any pics to compare? Im looking for pics of a 91-94 with only a body lift, compared to one with a suspension lift.

look at mine under the Best Wing next to Saleen thread it has a 3 inch body lift with 32's

awesome thanks. I love the way that looks. I think im going to go with the body lift. Is it really hard to install?

Can't say, I bought the ex with the body lift already on it

If you are going to take it offroad then a suspension lift is much better, because it will increase the performance of the suspension. I have a Superlift 5.5 with 33s and is uits my needs. I did regear to 4.56. My X is not a daily driver but it could be. When you do the lift replace radius arm bushings and ball joints if they have any wear. A steering stabilizer also helps. If there is any play in the steering system you will need to address that sooner than later. Do not expect much from the shocks from the Superlift kit. You may want to use a better shock.

I do not do frequent hardcore wheeling. If you plan to abuse the X then skyjacker may be better, more expensive.

Go with a solid axle swap

idont know who told u that body lifts are 200 dollars performance acceseries body lifts are 90 bucks for a 3 inch

I say 3" body lift, F-150 coil seats in the front and 33's. I would regear to 4:10 with 33s no matter what too. I had 33's with 3.73 and I didn't like it at all.

I hate body lifts too, but for your purpose it will be perfect. Good luck.

OK the body lift is time consuming to install. It isnt terribly difficult though. As for Gearing and tire size just post your axle code so we can tell you what gears you have.

FYI I go to lancaster weekly and can show you my body lift if you like to see how they go. Also have pics of my X when it was on 31's with 3 inch body lift. If you do the BL then get spacers and shackles you will clear 33's some trimming may be needed but wont be bad.

Edit: for a while i had ONLY a 3 inch body lift and 35's I had to run perrys fenders to do so but with some trimming they worked with a little rubbing. You could easily do 33's that way but perrys fit like crap and are about 300 bucks for the pair

i say 3" body lift, with 32" tires, and 4.10 gearing.

it will cost you probably around $1400 for lift, wheels, tires, and a re-gear. Thats if you do all the work (including the re-gear) yourself. Add $500 if you get the body lift done somewhere, and add about a grand if you want the gearing done somewhere (which i highly recommend unless your crazy like me and find fun in tearing apart your car with little or no prior knownledge how to get it back togeather)

If you dont regear you will wear your clutch and transmission out tons quicker, you will also have no engine power and horrible gas milage.

Rookie: hes got a 92, im under the impression all 92s came with 3.27?

Didnt know that. Yikes.

I know nothing about regearing or anything. Im an electronics guy. Ive done a little bit of bodywork. Would it be better if I just did 31's?

Would be easier. get the axle code and we can go from there

2" body lift and 2" suspension lift (spacers/springs, and shackles/add-a-leafs) with 32's. 3" body lift loooks like CRAP, and you'll be able to get by without regearing if you go with 32's. EDIT: 92's did not come with 3.27's only. Mine had 3.73 LS stock.

before he goes slapping larger tires on there the gear ratio is important. 32's would suck with high gearing (lower numericaly)
problem right now is we dont know the whole situation so shouldnt recomend anything.
