Quick disconnect fuel line...HELP!!!

93' Explorer XLT
I have to remove the gas tank to fix the seal around the sending unit. After messing with that stupid tool for the quick disconnects for the sending unit I couldn't get the fittings to disconnect. finally I messed with it so much the spring fingers that hold the connection together started to come out so I pulled it out and now I have a big problem.
How can I fix those connections or can I make another connection off of the steel braided lines?
How about a threaded connection?
How much pressure is in that line anyway, do I really need a steel braided line?
Any help or links will be much appreaciated.

Its a easy fix, your local auto parts store should carry new spring locks, or whatever theyre called, just pull the old ones out and push new ones in. I had to do mine not too long ago.

Yea, I have been calling all different places and no one knew anything about a repair kit for them. I decided to stop by my local Napa and what do you know there is the little spring clip that I needed. You would figure that the dealer would say something about it but nope. They told me the line has to be replaced from the fuel filter back to the tune of 294.00 for each line.......BS!!

Thats exactly why I dont even bother calling the dealership anymore. I replaced the headliner in my '91 a few months back, called the dealership first, for a Sport w/sunroof, they wanted $1400, thats the last time I ever called them.

The dealer does have the part. Ask for "fingers" for the fuel line quick disconnects. There are 2 different sizes (larger for the pressure and smaller for the return). If they try to tell you you have to replace the entire line they are full of crap!

Yeah, NAPA is the only place that ends up having 99% of the particulat little parts I need. The other places just have the bigger ticket items. NAPA is the ****! I actually had to educate someone that worked at Autozone in the meaning of OEM. Come on man, if your in the market you should know such a basic term as that! lol...

Yup, I went into Napa and there it was on the wall last package there. bought went home and finished the job. Thx fellas. I didn't call the dealer back about it didn't feel like going thru that trouble again. Truck is up and running in time for the snow tomorrow.
