I plan to get a Flowmaster delta 40 muffler and take it to a shop to have them run it from the cat back with 2.25" pipes. I'm about to get this muffler and want to make sure it'll work tho, since the stock piping is 2".

I looked at the stock muffler and it's got a center inlet and offset outlet, so that's the one i'm getting. The problem is I want the stainless one since I live in Michigan and the weather is pretty bad for corrosion and whatnot. The stainless one says 2.25" inlet and outlet.
If I take it to a shop will they be able to convert the 2" pipe coming from the cat to 2.25" coming into the new muffler?

I want to make sure if I buy this, that it'll work

Oh and how do you guys think it'll sound? I want louder but not OMG annoying loud

Anyone?? I'd like to know at least sometime today, I've already ordered it but I want to double check it'll work before they ship it...

Also, when I get a tip, does it have to have a 2.25" input to mate up with the pipes or can it be larger and the shop convert to it? I ask because I mainly only see tips with 2.5" ends on them. I don't know a whole lot about exhaust stuff yet

Mine had to have the offset/offset, same side. I'm sure yours should have been to. On the link you posted, it's the last one. It's what you should have ordered. As far as your other question about the piping, yes any shop can do that for you....not a problem

That's strange, i just looked under mine and the input on the stock muffler is centered and the output is offset towards the driver side. Was your stock one like that or did it have to be offset on the same side because of some other reason?
I can still cancel it and order the correct one if need be, I just don't want to have to ship it back

I'm not sure about the stock one, I just know what I have now. Not sure if the engine has anything to do with it, but I have the 4.6L....what do you have? If you got under there and looked, then I would think you should be ok with what you ordered then

I've got the V6, so yeah that very well could be why it's different. Thanks for the input tho

I don't know why we all have different mufflers, but i'm gonna go with what the stock one was, I'd be really surprised if that didn't work. I appreciate the comments, I'll let you guys know how it goes as soon as I get things rollin.
I checked for the third time and it's definitely center inlet/offset outlet on mine...

well im sure it would work fine that way cuz thats pretty much the same as the way i have mine but keep in mind that it mite be rite up against ur frame... look at mine up there^^^ i dont have that much space between the frame and muffler... i can imagine itll be a tight fit to have a center inlet
