Thanks to the search function ;) I now know how to find my keypad code for my 96 XLT. I haevn't looked yet but i know how.

My question is, when you press any digit on the keyless pad should the lights in the car come on or anything happen? Also if you put the wrong code in what happens?

I bought this thing Friday and absolutely love it. If i can get my keyless working and a replacement remote... :D:D I'd be a very happy man

wrong code---no open.right code, light comes on and it opens. i love the keyless entry cause i can't get my keys wet-(coded w/battery in there). i wade-fish in saltwater and get all wet. i just lock it all up and take off. JW

When you press a button or lift the front door handle, the interior lights will turn on. This only applies to '95-'97 2nd gen Explorers.

You can get a couple of remotes from ebay for $20 max each. Remember to get one that is for '93-'97 Explorers with actual words ("Lock", "Unlock", "Panic") on the buttons instead of '98-'01's pictures on the buttons.

on my 98, it works the same as well.

after entering the correct code press "3/4" to unlock all doors. press "7/8" and "9/0" at the same time to lock all doors. this is a great feature and should be offered on all cars.

Lights should come on no matter what code you push. After so many times of entering the wrong code, the backlight will begin to flash (if yours lights up, mine doesn't).

Buy them on Ebay. You need to find out what FCC ID code you need to match your X. I bought 2 on Ebay and they both work great. There are quite a few people selling them so do a search.
