Ok i've been looking for another Ranger preferably a 2wd 5speed with a 4cyl.

i was curious as to how good this combo is and how it does for Mileage.

anyone have this combination and does it get decent MPG?

reason i ask is because i have a truck in my sights for a decent price and its in reasonably good shape and decent mileage for the year.

My cuz used to have a brand new 2004 ford ranger with the 4 cyl and 5 speed and i think he got like 24 mpg since he did mainly city driving (i thought it was rated for something like 24/29). I know he never complained about bad gas milage. He had the very base modle too. The biggest problem wiht the truck was the 2wd. I had to pull him with my 93 explorer 4wd out of a ditch, a parking lot, a couple of other places all becuase he couldn't get any traction in the snow. Other then that it seemed like a decent combo and had a little get up to it. The only other complaint he had was that it was gov. at 95 mph, but he does like to speed.

thanks for the info.

I see your a fellow Wisconsinite :D

390 km per 52L tank
13.5L/100kms
22mpg

anywhere from 1-12 mpg. Depends on how much wheeling I do and how much highway driving. 4.0 5spd 4wd on 35"s with a SAS and duel tcases. Your cobmbo should get much better milage then I do.

Real life fuel consumption - 4x4 auto 4.0L OHV 13L/100 km's. Sorry guys, up here in Canada we changed to metric like most of the rest of the world. Much better system and easier to use than SAE.

You know us Americans are hard headed and ya can't tell us nothing!

The only problem I have with SAE is that when I goto work on my truck I have to have 2 sets of tools!

I had an F150 stepside a few years ago and the body/drivetrain was SAE but the engine inline 6 (300) was metric. Great truck though!

2006 4x4 4.0l auto... I get about 19mpg

i get about 18mpg highway
2002 super cab 4.0 V6 Auto 4wd

i get 21.3mpg on a 96 ranger 3.0L 4x4 use only 2wd 21.5mpg is highway that my best mileage. i get on average 18 to 20.7 mix of city in highway

I have a 4x2 '95 3L Ranger SuperCab (>200,000 miles) and I get 21-24 mpg.

Seethru's metric mileage of 13.5l/100km comes out to about 18 mpg U.S. by my calculations. So everybody seems to average about 18 to 24 mpg U.S. By the way, the old Imperial (Canadian) gallon was 25% larger than the U.S. gallon. Despite the fact that the Imperial gallon has gone the way of the dinosaur, the mileage claims on new car stickers in Canada still use it to make the mileage look better and us Cannucks still think of mileage in terms of the old Imperial gallon we've had forever.

I'm the loner. I get 14mpg town and 18hwy. (truck is at dealership now. Suspect leak at in-manafold.) I used to get 17twn and 20-24hwy depending on how old I felt like being. Me and my lead foot ha ha ha.

OK, I think the poster was asking the milage for a 2wd 5speed with a 4cyl. which I don't have. My 2.9L 5 spd 4 x 4 with 31's gets 17.5 in normal everyday driving. Highway is about 19. The truck a brick aerodynamically with a visor and canopy and lifted with big tires. Pretty sure if it was dropped on the ground with skinny tires and slicked up it would get 24+ MPG easy. Of course then I'd be stuck in my driveway...... :)
My Explorer with the 4.0 gets 19.

I know this is old , but I have a 97 XLT, 2.3 5 speed ,i get around 400 miles to a tank , and i'm thinin' i got a 18 gal tank, that looks like about 22 MPG.
