Rapid flashing theft light

My 2000 explorer eddie bauer has a flashing theft light, took to dealer they said the immobilizer was the issue, but part is obsolete and I'm having a hard time finding it in aftermarket. Does anyone out there know where i can find one of these?

If your theft light is rapid flashing then the system is about to give you a trouble code

Leave the key on and wait for the flashing to stop (90 seconds or so) the light will begin to
Blink a series of numbers. This is your trouble code

The dealer said the immobilizer which is the whole parts system lol

Your 2000 pats system is the pcm itself, the pats module behind the pass airbag and the matching
Chip key

There is a halo transceiver in the steering column that reads the signal
From the key.
Most times the problem is with the key or the halo

The halo is a $10
Part and easy to change out

Do you have a spare key you can try?

Recently helped a dude with a 2002 ranger. Flashing theft light.
He had taken it to our Local ford dealer $1200 later still not fixed. I spent 7 minutes with the truck, checked pats code. Bad halo… went to My house got a new halo and installed it… he tried to pay me I wouldn’t take it
vroom he was so happy he gave me an old 93 ranger carcass for my trouble

The pats system is telling you what is wrong, you need to get the code. My money is on a broken halo, 8 times out of 10 they simply stop working and cannot read the chip in the key
