Rear Door Handle

So my rear driver side door handle on the outside snaped today but just one side of it. I was wondering if anyone has taken one off before. I want to either fix it or replace it but have no idea how to tackle this. Any help would be great guys thanks

common problem.
Lots here have replaced them.
1/4 inch drill bit to remove the rivits and a "big daddy " style rivit gun to put the rivits back in.
You will also need to acess the interrior of the door.

thats what i was afraid of i knew those d@@n things were rivited on there. why would ford do that Thanks for the help Monmix

I drilled the rivets from the front of mine, clipped the backs off and punched them out. Not bad to do.

Also, when you have the new handle set, you can take it to a local body shop, they usually have those rivet guns and will pop a few rivets in for you for a few bucks. Just have the handle hooked up and taped to the door awaiting said rivets... OR, you can also use short bolts I believe, I did that on my Mustang.

i think i might go the short bolt way just seems easier if it ever breaks again lol

Yeah, I haven't done it on my Ex yet (I have a front handle to do) but that's what I'm going to do. Stupid rivets!
