Broken latch assembly.

If you play with it, you'll see a small lever that should have an internal spring holding it up. Find a spring in your hoarding pile that will pull it up, hook it to a ledge on the latch housing and it may just work for you. There is a thread discussing it

Yeah, it's as if the child proof latch is engaged. Thanks.

I got 2 of em. If there is a rear passenger, they get limo treatment.

Another way to look at the problem . 😁

I'm hoping the passenger side just has a broken door handle...

Yeah, my left rear door handle has always given me a headache. Never seems to want to work for too long, it never seems to push the rod far enough to unlatch the door and then the handle pops out of place and no longer opens the door. I have replaced it twice and now im super gentle with it.

I f##ked up, the rod moves BACKWARDS! I tried to straighten it some to make it longer. Just ordered TWO LH interior door handles from TEMU for about $8 with shipping, my front's broken too and I lost one I bought years ago.The ONLY reason my LR door lock actuator was intermittent was because it popped out of the metal holder riveted to the door frame. I thought for sure the latch mechanism was shot but it's not. We'll see how it goes with the new part. MAY have to come up with some way to mount the handle rearwards just a bit.
Oh, straightened the rod a bit more and disconnected the lever arm spring. It works! Wouldn't trust it for a second, although I may disconnect that return spring on the new one.
