ok, so i have both a 04 sport trac, and a 01 sport at the moment. both of them could use rear swaybar bushings, but guess what? both rockauto AND my local parts store do not list them. its the bushing that mounts to the swaybar to the diff. anyone have a part number for them?

I've replaced the rear sway bar end-link bushings in my '01 ST (not sure if this is what you're referring to, or are you talking about the bushings for the sway bar itself?). I found them on Ebay, they were Moog (about $10 per link).

The problem was that to install them I had to go to my mechanic buddy's shop, because he has a press. Even so, trying to press out the old bushings was nearly impossible, requiring a lot of pressure. There was no way I could have pressed these out at home. The replacement bushings worked, but next time I'll just buy the whole new link and be done with it.

Koda, I'm certain you're well aware of this method to remove flange type rear end link bushings. Very effective and quick, albeit stinky and must be done outdoors with good ventilation. First end link I used a large c-clamp with sockets to press the bushings out. Took some grunt, but eventually got them removed. Second one I used a propane torch and was done in 5 minutes. Agree though, brand new Moog K80788 (ST) rear end links are less than $20 each and are much less trouble unless you want firmer poly bushings such as the ES or Prothane's. OP, the ES and Prothane sway bar frame bushings are split for ease of installation, OEM replacements are not. Not a difficult job either way. GL

If you press the center steel sleeve out first, the rubber bushings pop out real easy. Use bushing lube, or ky jelly to install new bushings, then install the metal sleeve last.

The ES kit is a very good improvement. Took about 45 minutes (because of rust and care not to break bolts) but it probably could be done in 20. A rented ball joint or "upper control arm" kit with some sockets or common sense with an impact makes easy work to remove those link bushings. Took about 20 seconds!
