1. Problem: Rear passenger door automatic lock was not operating, wouldn't unlock or lock via power.

Cause: Rear passenger door lock wiring harness not properly installed, as a result was damaged.

Correction: Serviceman attempted to repair the harness and it was successfully repair.

2. Problem: Personal Keyless Entry code was added and wasn't removable through MFT (That's where I set it) or manually outside.

Cause: Didn't give me one.

Solution: Dealership removed the code. (Functionality to add the private code is probably not the best idea because it's really easy to unlock the door if you have more than two codes as I swiped my hand across the keyless entry and managed to unlock it, also you'll have problems trying to remove it).

3. Problem: MyFordTouch keeps disconnecting when syncing with phones. System is also slow.

First time I went in, they didn't do anything... The lady just said take the battery out and wait two minutes for the phone to defrag. She also told me that's the speed the system operates at. That was a bunch of bull. (Putting all this in chronological order. She then tells me they will reset the Sync system.

Solution: NOTHING, they did no reset at all and they kept the Explorer just to do the update which they didn't do. (Turns out, the lady was just unprofessional as I found a different service guy at the same dealership and he solved all my problems later on).

4. Problem: A day after repairing the door lock. The rear driver side plastic piece on the pillar next to the liftgate and glass has a hole in it. Serviceman probably accidently hit it with a tool or something or maybe a rock hit it. A real good service guy came out and said he'd help me out with it. It turned out to be covered under warranty.
Description on paper:
Replace left rear exterior moulding - May need to go to body shop.

Cause: Serviceman probably hit it with a tool or something.

Solution: Replaced broken moulding. They also had to take out the rear glass because the plastic piece is behind the glass! Make sure you don't break that thing or repairs for it will be a pain! They removed it and resealed the glass. They had a glass company check the seal and test it for leaks.

5. Customer states My Touch System is slow to operate - freezing at times. Cannot connect phone to sync.

Cause: APIM shorted and freezing. (The Sync computer basically, after replacement, it solved all my problems!).

Solution: Diagnose, test, and replaced failed APIM and retest for proper operation.

6. Problem: Rear driver side will not open from the interior. (At this point, it really pissed me off).

Cause: Failed rear door latch (Apparently, the part kept falling out of place and disconnecting).

Solution: Dealership attempted to fix the door latch. Put it back together. Tested it, after a few opens and closes, the piece popped out. They had to order another one. Took two weeks, dealership expedited the part and fixed it.

Also as a note just to inform you guys, there are lots of functionalities that are not working normally on the MyFordTouch but I hope the 2.6 - 2.7 update will fix that. Here's a list of functionalities not working:

1. 911 Assist notifier won't turn off despite selecting the off for the notifier (I don't want 911 Assist on so it notifies me everytime to turn it on and it's annoying).

2. Keyless entry option takes multiple inputs to even get to some of the prompts in MFT, once you add the code, the normal steps for removal is not working so you would have to go to dealer. Normally, those removal functions should work.

3. Note really a problem but it's annoying that everytime you go to browse, it doesn't stay at the place to choose songs. It goes back to the main folders and then you have to go through the folders to find your songs.

Some other problems that have been occuring:

1. Some parts are not flush on the vehicle.

Note: I did get an early build as my car was the 9k vehicle that was built. That's maybe why I have all these problems. This post was just to inform anyone who has any of these problems and who might have an incompetent service person. Once all the fixes were applied, the vehicle drives super well and after some break in, engine noise gets really awesome. Really amazing vehicle and I would have never gotten any other one! FORD EXPLORERs FOREVER!!!.

Also, I would like to give a personal thanks to my service guy Dave. He took care of me and my father when we had all these problems and felt like we wanted to return the vehicle.

Wow..you must have had a Friday the 13th early build after a party Thursday!! Sorry to see you had all those problems. :(

No problem. I'm just glad I can provide tips on the repairs I had and I hope it helps you guys out. I atleast found a really professional service guy who fixed everything professionally. I'm planning to go back and get a Ford Focus 2011.

Thank you for taking the time to post all of this info. Glad to see that after you had everything fixed your still happy with your purchase!

Can I ask what dealer in MD you used that was so good/responsive?

Koons Ford of Silver Spring, MD in Montgomery County. Get Dave Ledger, really nice guy who helped me out all the way. Professional work on a newly built car.

You must have had what we used to call a "Monday Morning" or "Friday Afternoon" build!

Well apparently, I'm not the only one. By the way, my headlights aren't flush. Is that a problem or concern?
