Replacing exhaust system..

I need advice and how much it will generally run to replace the exhaust system on my 95 explorer limited... It makes a lot of noise right now, and it is rusted through right before the muffler.

I dont want anything really special, just somthing that will be quite. If this were my ranger i would go with dual cat back exhaust, but the explorer is a little different. What do you guys think? And how much do you think it will cost a place to replace it?

I just had a cat back job(muffler and tailpipe) done on my 95 at Meineke. It cost me $350. Normally, I would have done it myself for much less, but my wife was driving it out of state when it came apart, so I was stuck with paying someone else to do the work.

I got quotes approaching $500 for a new muffler and tail pipe from several shops. I wound up getting both parts from an auto store right next door to one of the shops for $150 total and doing it myself.

Do you have a sawzall? If not get one and you can do the job yourself. It's literally bolting stuff together after you cut all the old stuff out. It wasn't clear from your post how much of the exhaust you need to replace, is it just cat back? If it's cat back then parts will be about 150.

mine was $250'ish, but i bought the muffler through the exhaust shop so it could have been less, BTW magnaflow

i just got a flowmaster force II for my 96 eddie bauer from ebay for 160 and it took about 2 hours for me to remve and replace
