Replacing the rear hatch / liftgate lock cylinder

I think the lock mechanism in the rear hatch is broken. Could I get a mechanism from the junkyard and swap the lock cylinders out (so the keys will still match)?

Yes you can do that. I have done it, but I bought a new set of two cylinders with keys. It is not difficult. You may have just a broken plastic clip though. Open her up and have a look see.
