Revos a No Go...Got BFGs instead...Hope I didn't mess up

Well I took my truck in to get the Revos I had planned on...and No One in our town has them in stock in 235/75/15s!!! So since I knew I had to get tires on Today or the money from our *stimulus cheque* would be gone...I got the BFG T/A KOs. They look great, and handle nicely so far...

I spoke with a couple of the guys at the tire shop who have trucks and they also have them on their trucks, with no complaints.

Does anyone else have these tires and if so, how have they done by your usage?

I will let you know my opinion once she has seen some snow...in about 6-8 months... :

...i have them on my ranger and that is all that will be on my DD, part time off road trucks.....i have run them for years on f250's and they are great... i like that they stay quiet, they stay aired up, and handle great both on and off road...

The BFG's are great tires, although you didn't say if you got the MT's or the AT's. I'll assume your talking about the AT's

They are by far the best compromise tire I have ever run. When I say compromise I mean they work great on or off road in moderate mud, or snow or rain. They just plain worked well in all conditions. Sure there are other tires that will outperform them in specific circumstances but my personal opinion is you cannot go wrong with a set of BFG's

Great tire -- just take it easy in the rain cauz I think the compound is a litlte high in the durometer level and the tire sipping is minimal.

I admit I am a transplanted Brit, and if you watch my spelling you will see an odd thing on occassion...such as Honour.

I thought I said that the BFGs were A/T KOs...but if I missed it sorry folks...blame my not having my bifocals on...LOL

I so far am very pleased with the tires, though it is kinda weird as they are *bouncy* compared to my *should pops* that were on the poor wee beasty.

Looking forward to trying them in the snow, and I will be careful in the rain IZ as I didn't opt for the extra siping, since I was spending so much to begin with.

I will have to check and see if I can get them siped in the near future, as I can afford. I will admit they did offer to add the replacement guarantee in the future (I am sure within reason) if I choose to add it.

I'm surprised they offered to have it siped -- I've never had a shop ask me . But I wouldnt worry about the siping too much, just take it easy in the rain/snow

IZ is right on about the hard compound not being great in the rain. They aren't bad or dangerous, it's just their weakest point. They were great for mild offroad, and great in the snow. Best AT I've driven in the snow. I don't think many shops around here sipe. It'd be nice if they did, the mudders would probably last a bit longer. You may want to check the tire pressure. The shop that put mu BFG's on blew them up to 50psi. They wore great, but rode like a tank. I think I settled on 40 or 42 psi. I got 40k out of them with a lousy rotation schedule, and probably no alignments.

I'm surprised you guys are saying they are bad in the rain, I never had a problem with slipage in the rain, although I probably drive a little more conservative than some of the younger crowd here. I also had them on a truck with an LS rear so that may have helped.

The crowning glory of those babies was the day I pulled a full size lifted Chevy truck up a hill becuase he just couldn't get up with his big 36" tires. I was grinning ear to ear while attaching my little ranger to his truck. I could barely walk up the hill without falling but my truck walked right up every time. Of course I also had to pull my wife and neighbor up the same hill.

Exactly, they're good tires -- but they wont take a corner in the rain as well as some the other tires like the Michellin Cross Terrain SUV. But then again, the Michellins probably wont perform as well as the BFG AT on the trail, have thinner sidewalls, and so on.

Well I may get the siping done, am going to ponder it a bit first...they want $11 per tire to do it. I did some reading on siping and it does sound like a good thing overall to have done. My main reason would be traction in rain...since I live in the rain state...Washington!

Well if you live in a rainy state then siping would be a good idea, I didnt have any problems out of mine in the rain but we probably get less rain than you.
