We are planning a trip to Phoenix over the christmas/new years break. Going to drag the zuk behind us.

Rick has offered to run up Crown King while there. Anyone else interested? I'm not 100% sure of which day, it's sometime after the dec 25th and before jan 1st.. :) My wife has NEVER been offroading, so I need to do something mild for her first time.

I'm excited, first time in 3-4 years since I've had time and a vehicle to run a trail.

..Love to join in on the trip but can't get away at this time..(

..Be sure to post pics for the rest of us..:biggthump

Yeah I'm back working but I'm out of runs for a little while. Gotta fix the exhaust leak I can't shake in the 150, and need to start saving up for something more "commuter friendly":(

Maniak and I were discussing a Crown King trip in the near future too:chug:

Put me down as a maybe. I'm still not working, but it is close enough that I can just Drive the X there and wheel it.

If I break I only need to get within 200 miles of home and then I can have AAA pull me home from there :)

If you break up this way I could always trailer you home...

Just a reminder that Crown King is a long run. All day starting in the desert, then up to the pine trees and cold weather December weather, then back down the other side of the mountain to the highway...

Sounds like fun, but I will be down on the border in Arivaca running all the backroads around all the abandoned mines down there. Used to be pretty challenging with all the slate and varying conditions, but with the B.P. running the area pretty heavy anymore the only fun is remeniscing about all the good times I used to have there.

...Is there snow up there yet?...:bounce:

Had a good storm just after Halloween like we usually do that dropped about 2" in the city and put a good amount on the S.F. Peaks, but nothing since then because of the blocking high pressure ridge that keeps pushing all the moisture to the North of us and not letting it drop down. As a result only a little is left on the Peaks and all the roads are back to being bone dry. We really need some of that moisture that has been hitting OR, WA, and CA.

Yea, I told her.. She's nervous as all heck. One thing that seems to calm her down some is we are going bring along skate board helmets, and wear them inside the zuk. I've hit the old noggin one too many times in the past decade (and seeing the huge mark left on the helmet from the VFR crash.. yea, I'm a big time fan now.)

My brother & sister-in-law is in Mesa (broke, no job, and squabbling like crazy), so I am going to stop by there also.

I hope to have a firmed up schedule later this week.

Do we have a date yet?

Give me a few days, I have a plan in mind, just need to sit down and make it happen.

I'm a maybe, but likely.

Rick, have you run it lately? I left Chandler at 8:30am and was in crown king by lunch.
I didn't tackle any of the big obstacles, just stuck to the trail.

Normally we tackle all the obstacles. I haven't run the trail in several years.

This shot was taken many moons ago on Crown King trail.

Ok, how about running it on the 27th or the 28th?

28th would probably be better. I should be around then, although dont know schedule yet.

28th works for me too.
