- Mountaineer 99
Hello all, first time poster here.
Here is the guts of my problem. I have a 99 mountaineer 4wd with 105k on it. The CEL came on and I took it in for a diag at a dealer. The error code they got was that it was running lean. They spent about 4 hours troubleshooting it and couldn't find anything. I told them to replace the fuel filter since it needed it anyway. They didn't charge me for the diag and just turned off the light. Now the next day I get it again. I had driven it home without any problem (45 min drive) and now I got the same problem this morning after driving it about 7 minutes on the road at about 60mph. At idle I am at about 500rpms (it was starting to idle down furthur at stops but now seems ok probably thanks to fuel filter). I changed my plugs at 70k. Here is what I think (and I'm no expert):
Could I have gotten "bad gasoline"?
Do the injectors need cleaned?
Is my dealer unqualified?
Simple air filter maybe?
Does the timing need adjusted? (tune up)
Please help, I love my truck and it feels like I'm not taking care of her when that light is on. I appreciate any help
