OK here's the deal. I just finished installing a set of Warrior shackles on my 94. While it did raise the rear end a few inches it also did something I wasn't thinking it would do. Now both of my leaf-springs are almost flat. That's got me worried. Will this cause the springs to break or go even softer as before????? Is this normal??? Did I install the shackles wrong, or do I just have springs that are too worn out to support the new load??? It's weird though because now all of a sudden I've got some killer travel from the rear end. I was able to jack up the rear with a Hi-Lift jack to just about 4 feet in the air.....all four tires on the ground with some spring to go :)))) and that's with the sway-bars attached. But if I'm going to damage my truck I'll go ahead and take them off or replace the springs(just not sure when I can do that one....no money+vacation=one broke 4x4er) What do you think??

Don't be too concerned...

Rest assured, the addition of extended shackles has not caused an increased load on your leaf springs. Thank about what the shackles really do... They're kinda like a spacer, nothing more.
And initially, it has not changed the "flatness" of your spring arch. However, with the shackles installed, your springs are able to compress more before hitting the bumpstops. This may, over time, cause more settling of the leaf spring arch.
One question, did the bolts that came with your WP shackles fit snugly through the leaf eye bushings? Mine did not and I ended up getting different ones.

I'm hoping you're right. These springs are just about strait now. But I've drove them some and it's not too bad so far. I'm going to take it and look at it some more this weekend. It does have me starting to get on track of lifting my Explorer with only new springs and NO blocks. I've been thinking about some OME and ????Maybe???? some air springs, but I doubt I'll use the air springs. We'll see.

To answer your question....yes the bolts did fit just fine into the springs. So far I haven't heard any "clinking" execpt from my sway-bar disconnects. I kept all of the old parts just in case thought.
