Where do I begin to learn and understand what I would like for a solid axle. I see a Dana 30 for sale but have no clue what`s best for me.

What vehicles had Danas up front?

Which axle works well with the stock rear?

Is the Dana 30 not worth looking at?

Everything you need to know is going to be listed in the "Solid Axle Swap Registry"

for what you are looking to do to your year of truck I might suggest looking at Stic-o, Jefe, Section525 and Yomie's threads in there.

Edit- Wait a minute, this is posted in the 95-01 forum but the truck under your name is a 92 RIP, update that info so we can know for sure.

And yeah, a Dana 30 from a Jeep would work for bolt pattern and you would get a solid axle but everything else is undersized and would be weaker than stock.

When I find my next Explorer, I will certainly update my info and I plan on finding a sec gen ex.
