Scraping Windshield Wipers

According to the Owner's Guide, there are no interval (intermittent wipes) settings on vehicles with the rain-sensing wipers. Come to think of why would it be needed when you can set the sensitivity to wipe more or less often.
Having said that. I just went out and turned the rain-sensing wipers to OFF. I then turned the wiper knob on and the wipers worked. As I continued to rotate the knob, the time periods for the wipes shortened.
So it seems that vehicles with rain-sensing wipers can also use the intermittent wipe by turning the the rain-sensing system OFF and using the wipers as usual for intermittent settings.

I believe the manual is wrong. With the auto wipers on, I have played with the wipers and have changed the knob up and down. I have found that changing the position of the wiper knob increases its sensitivity. When it is going intermittently slow you bump it up a few notches, it will go faster or will actually go on where it's not pausing.

Yes, that is what I was implying. With the rain-sensing ON, the sensitivity can be increased by rotating the knob but it is still moisture dependent. With rain-sensing feature set to OFF via the left hand cluster, the knob can be used to set the intervals to time dependent whether it is raining or not.

Thanks for letting me know about the with. I don’t know why but I personally like the rain-sensing feature off and an intermediate mode so I can control the wiper speed. Oh also an update on the wiper issue. Yesterday it poured. My fast mode couldn’t keep up with how much rain there was. There was no wiper issue though so I assume I either cleaned them well or it was just a hiccup with the windshield being dirty. Thanks again for the help guys and i’ll be sure to post if it happens again.
