use the whole can, use the vac line coming from the spigot on the brake booster

thinking back, i remeber people saying something like 1/3 can for the intake, a 1/3 can fro the gas tank, and some for the crankcase... but not 100% on its application.... however, do use the brake booster.....

which end of the hose do i use

pull the hose off the booster.... dip into can..... you want the hose to still be attached to the intake and disconnected from the booster....

Dip into the can? The entire Bottle? Im not to sure on that info... The can tells you how much to use. Its definetly not the whole thing. And you dont wanna be dipping the hose into the can. Dont suck to much in at once, it can stall your engine. Make sure you have someone there helping you out while you do this so they can give the truck gas as you feed the hose. What i did was poured the sea foam into a plastic baggy; i think i used 1/3 of the can- and i diconected the booster line, cut a little hole into the bag and let it get sucked in slowly.

What I've heard is
to stick the hose into the can becuase it may suck up too much, too quickly and hydrolock the engine. Instead pour it into a different container to control how much you'll put in (like a bag) and then slowly pour it into the hose and the vacuum will suck it right in. SeaFoam says that you can use up to a full pint (the whole bottle) into the gas tank. For other applications it says 1/3 to 1/2 of can.

Do not use the full can, only use 1/3 to 1/2 of the can.

The way I add it to the brake booster vacuum line is to detach the line at the booster and insert a small funnel into the line ( the vacuum holds it in place ) then from a container in which I have measured 1/2 of the can of Sea Foam, I gently pour it into the funnel.

After all of the Sea Foam is in the motor, shut it off and wait for 15 minutes before restarting
.

ok i did it once with 1/3 can, after i shut off the engine i waited 5 min. it smoked like hell, should i do it again or would that be a waste.

aldive, this has nothing to do with sea foam, where did you get your air dam, i didnt think they made one for a 99, but i didnt look that hard either.

You should have waited 15 minutes before restart to allow the product to "work".

Yes. For me it made a big difference cause i have 130,000 miles on my engine. It got rid of some shaking i had along with a minor ping..It ran smoother and the response felt better.

Yes...it definitely improved my idle too. Idle now is a whole lot smoother.

sea foam

Thanks for the info. Just bought my xls with 48,000 miles and am going to put sea foam on the to-do list. By the way I'm new here and love this site. Lots of good advice.

Welcome aboard and keep on asking any questions that you have.

which auto parts stores carry sea foam?
I inquired about it at autozone last week and they don't carry it.

I have access to Napa, VIP, and AutoZone primarily around here in Southern NH/NorthEast Mass

Napa has it. Also Carquest have it too. That's what I'll be doing for my spring break next week. I'll be getting a few cans of them and run Sea Foam again through the engine and pour mineral spirits in my gas tank to clean the fuel injectors.
