Now she waits for the day when you put the dual pipes back on and rev it just thiiiissss much over....and she'll be all over you like a mother-in-law

My neighbor is from Lancaster, not exactly where about that is in the UK, but her husband probably would have pulled a shotgun on me had I disobeyed her.

Lancaster's further up north from where I am, it's very very quiet up there... they're not hardened people.... so don't worry about the shotgun... they probably have a feather duster..

Awesome!

Glad I came back to this thread, that's freakin awesome that you got your ticket dismissed. I thought the same thing the last time I used Sea-Foam too. I was up at the gas station when I put it in and people were looking at me funny, like you know your truck is smoking right? Yeah I know, it's Sea-Foam. It's a fairly active area for the police too, the station is right down the hill and there's a school there too. But made it all the way across town with no problems. Lucky me I suppose, but I've definitely seen some bad cars around town blowing blue and black smoke, makes me wonder if the cops ever do anything about it. Congratulations man. Way to show them coppers that they aren't always right.

Hi everyone,

This thread caught my eye. What is this Seafoam stuff and why would I want to pour a can into my gas tank? What's it for?

wonder how you got off when its right on the can not to use on public roads as it can cause excessive smoke ? lucky lol

does it really? oh my god. whoops! shhh!!
hahah

I've got an IDEA.

We put a huge sign on the rear glass saying...
"IT'S SEAFOAM!"

Seafoam

You don't just pour it into your gas tank. It also is introduced through the intake as well and can be put directly into the crank case. As has been said it's a cleaning agent for your engine. The excessive smoke is from the Sea-Foam soaking into the carbon build up inside the engine then burning off once you run the engine. You are supposed to let it set to get the best cleaning power.

If you want to know all of the details, either check Google Video or YouTube for Sea Foam, they have a promotional video that actually runs you through all the motions. And there are plenty of people who post videos of doing it to their own cars.

That what the manufacturer wants you to think... The smoke is mostly the seafoam itself burning off in the cats. Its primary component is simply a light oil... which, we all know, burns when it hits a hot catalytic converter.

I'm waiting to see some conclusive proof (e.g. before and after shots of the combustion chamber) to show me two things:

1) Carbon build-up exists on the valves, head, and pistons, and
2) running seafoam through it and NOTHING ELSE resulted in a reduction of the carbon build-up.

I've always been skeptical of it myself. Figured I'd give it a try, especially with gas prices so high last summer. I didn't really notice any huge difference in how my truck ran, I bought some Techron and ran that through the system, pretty good stuff. I like that stuff best because it's probably one of the best detergent packages out there. The Big 3 even trucked Chevron gas up to MI to run for EPA testing. They also were one of the first Top Tier companies. At least Techron has a track record as being a gasoline additive anyways. It's a little expensive, but it's what I'd run out of anything out there.

I put Seafoam in a small, portable generator when it was new to see if it would smoke, and it did even though the generator never had any carbon deposits. This stuff just smokes when it gets hot or burns.

Seafoam will work at least as well as water or ATF into the upper intake. Engine is hot, so is carbon, cool liquid hits it.. and breaks the carbon deposits.. At least that the theory for the old ATF or Water method of removing carbon.

I've done seafoam a few times and it "seems" like it works, as the idle was smoother etc.. but of course it wasn't a scientific test and its possible I was just biased.. Someone needs to do a blind test on someone to see if they think it worked or not.
