Anyone know what is a good way to shave emblems off an explorer? I've read a few sites but all of them say different things. I've heard using a putty scraper, fishing line, a blower dryer.. everything. Any good ideas? I don't wanna mess up my paint or leave a discolored spot. Also anyone know how to remove the Carmax sticker left on the paint?

You shouldn't have to worry too much about a discolored part considering your explorer isn't that old.

For example, my pin stripes are gone.. if you look really close at it.. you can tell.

I had to get some stickers off the paint of my 04...I just pulled it in the garage, and used a hair dryer to slowly work it off. It took a while to do, but I was glad with the results.

Personally I think a heat gun works so much better then a hairdryer, but they both get the job done.

:exp:I just took mine off today. I used fishing line and a blow dryer to take them off. I first just heated them with the blow dryer and slipped the fishing line behind it. Came right off. I used Goo-Gone to take off anything left behind.

How big is the risk of pulling paint off by removing decals. I have had a gigantic Dealer emblem on the back of my Explorer for the past 8 years, will the hair dryer work on that?

i pulled mine off using floss and goof off / googone works good as well.

It did nothing to my paint. Looks like I never had anything even there.

I removed the fugly dealer emblem off my Mounty the other day by just pulling it off by hand (which is RARE to be able to do) and used goo gone to get rid of the nasty adhesive left. Looks perfect, no damage to the paint at all, can't even tell it was there. Gotta be careful with the hair dryer method so you don't warp paint.

Did the same process with mine. I'd leave the putty knife in the tool box.
I did leave the V8 badge... couldn't help it...
