Side pipes emissions or inspection in pa?

The inspection on a classic vehicle is no different than an inspection on a standard vehicle...just no sniffer test. I'm guessing that either the Jeep was modified AFTER it received classic tags, or someone sent a "different" set of pix in to the DMV.

For those thinking about this getting them around emissions laws...think again. You don't have a sniffer test, but you are still required to have the OEM equipment on board...and a carb wasn't OEM on an Explorer. Plus, if you get in a wreck with a classic tagged vehicle, and it's far from in "classic" condition, you may be in deep doodoo.....

damn, i should read more into it before i get excited

one morning when I was really hung over I was watching some hot rodding show on tv and they were making this truck... and on the exhaust system they put Ys that one end went to the side by the back tire, and the other went thru the cats and the mufflers and to the back of the truck. then on the Ys that went to the side he had these metal plates on motors that could slide in and out to block that pipe... so for normal use and emissions he could run it thru the mufflers... but when he wanted he could run it thru the pipes at the side.

maybe you could do something like that?

those are called cutouts, summit and jegs has em.

Side pipes are legal in Calif, cutouts are banned in most states.
