So here is my delimma.
about 2-3 days ago my 95 explorer sport automatic (170K) started shifting funny between 3-4 gears?. I would be on a flat road driving around 35-40mph and the tranny would shift constantly. Its now getting worse! on my way to work this morning the O/D light started flashing after 20 miles. I checked the fluid level (o.K) but looks a bit burnt. My uncle is a retired ford mechanic and he told me the tranny is slipping and to change the fluid and put it an additive to help the seals. Any suggestions?

I am having same problems anybody know whats wrong?

TSB was sent out by Ford

Take it to your certified Ford mechanic. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) need to be checked and most likely P0741 and possibly P1728 will be present.

Good news probably not a new transmission, it most like needs a PCM re-flashing or SW update. Or maybe worse, it could be the solenoid = $600.00.

The TSB is below:

good luck!

well that tsb is for 2000 model his is a 95 probably wouldnt hurt to change fluid and filter to start with but will probably only buy you some time could be a solenoid? or something electrical like that or a problem in the valve body you will probably get some
better info later this afternoon.
