Hi guys, Its been a while since i posted anything here so here is my dilema.
I have a 1st Gen 93 sport. All stock except for a K@N filter. O'2's were replaced in September of 2005. No CEL, Drive to work 12 miles round trip. I have notice that my gas mileage has gone down extremly. I do know that I might have a back float in the gas tank. I have notice that I do get a smell of gas coming from the front of the motor. I open the hood and I smell it a liitle stronger coming from the front almost center of the motor. I see no leaks, rust, anything.
My truck has no rust. Never see's the offroad. The plugs were also changed on september 2005.

can you help?

Sounds like you should first check the canister purge solenoid. The smell is likely fuel system fumes in the charcoal canister not getting burnt as it should, by getting sucked into the intake manifold when the canister purge solenoid opens.

try a search for canister purge

Thanks, but will that make my mileage go down?

If not that, look around each injector, whenever you get the smell. I had to replace the orings, they were leaking out onto the lower intake.

well first is checking the purge system to make sure it is working
Next is to check for fuel leaks (pressure tester)
Next would be the engine is running rich.
The latter two would be most likely when talking a severe drop in MPG

Thanks, I'll try that
