Snow Chain for Ford Explorer

I know others have used/recommended cables before. Are they an acceptable replacement for areas that say chains must be used?

Yes, most of the signage will say "Chains/Cables required" also there will be an officer (CHP or Park Ranger) there to enforce and they are good with Cables.
