Well, last night I was at a friends house watching The Apprentice, and I was over there for like 3 hours. When I left, I had a lot of yellow stuff on the side of the X. Upon further investigation, they were eggs. One of them made contact right above the left rear tire, on the paint, and exploded towards the front of the car, the next hit the drivers side mirror. I wasn't exactly thrilled, and I know that from my days as a youth, that eggs and cold weather, supposedly, don't mix well together. It was like 20 degrees last night when it happend. I went and washed it off, all the yolk and stuff came out, but you can still see the point of impact from the first egg. It looks like the shell is embedded in the paint, I tried to scrape it off with my finger last night, but it wasn't gonna happen. Did it chip the paint, or do I just need to take a different approach. I was hitting it with the high pressure at the car wash, and it didn't do anything. Any help would be great, thanks.

use the brush.
high pressure will only get so much off, a brush and actual friction is needed to get it all off.

Dont let it sit in the sun! Cold weather shouldnt hurt the paint, especially if you got most of it off right away. Frozen egg is def not good for clear coat but I dont see it leaving permanent damage.

If the brush/rag/friction dont work try a cleaner wax.

yea, i took it to the car wash and used the foam brush on it and everything came off, except right where the first egg hit, it just has a bunch of small white chips in it, i dont know if its just the shell of the egg or what, i guess ill have to try the wax... thanks

man that sucks that happend...nothing pisses me off more than when someone goes and screws with someone elses vehicle.

Ouch! last resort would be to wet sand. I cant imagine an egg shell would stick through the clear coat, but hey stranger things have happened and velocity can do alot...

The albumin in the egg, will trash your clearcoat, call your insurance company, you cannot fix it

An egg can do a surprising amount of damage. The broken edge of a shell can be very sharp. I have seen them create a a round series of chips in the paint right down to the steel where the egg hit.

Well before you go on worrying I would try using a claybar on it. Stuff works miracles, I tell you.

Right.
Eggs are terrible. You really cant wash them off fast enough.

I'll take a pic of it later and post it for you guys to see, i'm at work now. Thankfully the second one just hit the mirror. Thanks for all the input though guys.

FYI, paintballs eat through primer!
been there done that, haha

a few months later....

Well, I washed the X today and thought I'd go out and check out where the damage was and this is what I found...

Well, I didn't think it was as bad, but those are chips in the paint. I thought it may have been just part of the eggshell, and i scratched at it with my fingernail and peeled off a tiny piece of paint so it's not lookin too good. Oh well, we'll see what I come up with when the weather gets nicer.

also, forgot to add that the chips thin out quite a bit, but the farthest one I found was under the drivers side key hole.

What took ya so long, only been about 3 mos

Picture isnt showing up

That pic looks like the egg hit I got on my Toyota. On the plastic bumper, and it went right through the paint, down to the black.
