I have a '92 eddie Bauer with a OHV that looks like it might be on it's way out. I'm wondering what it would take to drop a SOHC in? Has anyone done it and what was it like? What should I watch for?

ORRRRRR...... better yet, how about a 5.0 HO? Has anyone done that and how tough was that?

The SOHC swap isn't an option unless you don't mind running without a heater box at all. Not notching it, or cutting it, but remove it completely because the valve cover completely covers the air intake for the heater system at the rear of the firewall.

Other then that it's a pretty straight foward swap, as long as you're good with wiring.

Thanks, Doug.

DOUG! HAVE YOU SEEN WHERE I LIVE??? A heater is imperative!!!! LOLOLOL
Ok, how 'bout the 5.0L swap then? I have a couple of HO's layng around from my LSC and AC COBRA builds..... maybe I can fit one of them in?

You would need the Explorer front accessories, operating system, wiring harness, etc.
Good luck,
DonW

So would that operating system be Windows or Linux based ;)

A body lift also makes the 5.0 swap easier. Although 410fortune notched his heater box and made it work.

Good luck none the less, I took the easy way out and bought one with a 302 ;)

Yeah, that's why I post that as my main reasoning behind why not to do a SOHC swap in a pre-95. Everything else is trival, hahahaa.

later Doug.
