Sounds like marbling, but it goes away after 30 seconds. it seems to come from the driver side more but hard to tell, since its not constant, maybe more toward the bottom? im wondering if it could be the hydraulic tensioner or something deeper. im leaning toward tensioner since it goes away, even on a warm start figure maybe oil drains back and its too weak? not too sure.

Forget who suggested it, think it was 410, but try throttling the gas a bit before starting it, its nicer on the SOHC anyway

ir doesnt work? :( still?!?!?!??!? do the exhaust ones even work?!? ☹️ im stubborn

Says processing

If it sounds like marbles, that’s the death rattle.
still processing! i uploaded it maybe 9 last night been 10 hours!

it marbles but goes away after maybe 30 seconds... should i try the tensioners or just say forget it and drive it as long as i can?

I was able to download the mov files and watch them
Sounds like an exhaust leak, but you said it goes away?
How long before it goes away? Some manifold to collector leaks will go away once the metal warms up and closes the gap

That is just from the video though...... I can see where it would sound like a tensioner issue. or a lower end noise, like a crank bearing YIKES

Have you tried opening the oil fill cap and having a listen?

I learned here on EF that if you hold the throttle to the floor and then run the starter the SOHC will not start but it will build oil pressure first, then let off pedal and start...that can help with any tensioners that need to be pumped up

there is a tapping from the cat simueltaneously, thats been there for years. its just the heat shield. but also i hesr a marbling like noise.

i havent heard it on a cold start yet, but on a warm start took maybe 30 seconds? 20-30? the video was taken on a warm start ill see what a cold start sounds like today.... funny though because it was already oiled and had pressure immdiateky at the warm start and it was still marblin around. so i wonder if its gotta do with pressure? like as in if all thenoil drains back from the tensioner now its gotta pump back up? idk.

thing better not be a bearing! cant fix that in a week and a half, since itll be going 700 miles then. i can however change the tensioner before then thats fast.

i opened the cap but all i hear is splash splash 😂😂😂 its hard to hesr over the fan and my exhaust etc. but i dont have time to open it as its marbling, since it doesnt seem consistent. didnt do it on the cold starts yesterday. did it 2x in a row on warm start, then the next warm start it didnt do if??? so its not super consistent, so not sure i have fast enough relfexes to pop the hood and pop the cap before it goes away 😂

i have tried that! on the cold starts at least havent done it warm though

Forgot the oil cap trick, yeah that's a good one. Let's hope that's all it is, the other options ain't great...though I still ain't been able to listen to it myself.

Dude, try youtube, I'm stubborn too but use what works 😂

Really? Only on a warm start? Not sure it's your chains though since ya didn't hear it through the cap, even with as difficult as it is to listen to it, mine sounded much more obvious from the cap. It doesn't hurt to do the tensioners, they're not crazy expensive or anything. I lean towards 410s exhaust leak, check around for that first

Well as said, it's your video being uploaded, usually you can see it first since it's on your device, it's just sourcing it from the library, meanwhile we have to source it from google

I still got to get it to work, may have to download it like 410 did.

:banghead:i wish i knew why it takes so long to peocess a 10 and 7 second video

also havent heard it yet today (havent started) but it seemed to be coming from the lower end driver side. i didnt hesr it when the hood was popped and not on the P side, nust the driver side through the fenderwell. didnt try underneath.

Killing me smalls. YouTube is the way to go. It does sound like an exhaust leak
