Spare tire protection

For you guys that keep your spare in the stock under carrier location do you do anything to protect the exposed tire and also to somehow keep the tire from getting the wear spots from rubbing on the top of tire?

if you pull the tire up tight to the frame it doesn't get wear spots, when i rotate my tires there is normally two little lines on the tire that was the spare, they go away in a few days
