Spark Plug Problems

Hey all i just bought this sweet new 01 XLS 4.0L and am now having problems removing the #3 Spark plug. it sucks the plug is behind the AC evaporator and above the manifold. does anyone have any tips for removing it apart from
1. pulling the engine
2. discharging the refrigerant and pulling the evap
3. removing the manifold which has even harder to reach nuts.

please help!!

I know the evap housing breaks apart sideways--just remove the right side cover of evap core, not breaking the system apart.--will this give you enough room?? You should see a few 8mm screws under the foil heat sheild. 10mm on the top edge

Remove the tire and go through the wheel well.

Makes it sooooooo much easier.

Ditto. Remove the splash guard in the wheel well. You'll have almost a straight shot at it.

no i tried that. the AC evap is still in the way. and the screws holding the evap housing are even harder to reach than the plug itself

I just turn the wheel the opposite direction (instead of pulling them) and put the front up on jackstands. Works great for O2 sensors if you use a 22mm or 7/8" wrench, since there is no room for the O2 sensor socket.

I did took my tire off and removed the plastic guard, just had enough room to do it.
