Spark plugs

You need a spark plug gapper. They're about a dollar (USD) at a local parts store. Push the gapper between the electrode and prong until the space between them is the size of the gap needed; in your case .054.

I have autolite plugs and wires, very good combo, they even add a little pickup, of course it matters what your willing to spend, but I also gap mine I set mine write inbetween the minimum and maximum only because I want get the maximum amount of spark so they is less left over crap in the cylinder, it burns off better.buy a gap tool they are like 5 cents at an auto parts store.

platinum +4! no guesswork.

I run $2 autolites.. I change them once a year... thats 30-50k miles... I gap them at .054.

I ran 1 set of bosch platnums.. had one explode in the cylinder.. I had to pull off the heads to clean the the mess it made on the valve.. I don't run bosch in any vehicle now.

That is very good advice, I dont want to take the chance of that happening to me.

is there any upgrades for a little power or performance for the hole system from plugs to wire to distributer and recomendations would be great thanx

For a keeper vehicle use the best wires, from Magnacor. There wires will last longer than all others. Yes you can buy some other brand that wears out quicker, and warantee them. Ford wires have lifetime warantees. Skip the weird wires that claim gains, they are a waste of money.

Try this website, not the Magnacor retail site. Good luck, http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/buy/Magnacor/Ignition/Spark_Plug_Wires

awsome thank u very much wich size is best 8 8.8 or 10 and what about a distriputer?? stock ok or is there one better and what plugs do u recomend same as the other guys? thanxs again

o well thats good to know lol what do they use?and what size wire should i go with 8 8.5 or 10 mm thanx and accel plugs are good to use?

I believe the 8.5 was mentioned as fitting best, from a message I received from Magnacor. They're retail was about $185, whereas the other site showed them at around $128, for a 98 302.

The V6 wires are in the $85-90 range. I'll be getting the V8 wires a little later. If you have a SOHC V6, try to get stuff which will last a long time. They are very hard to remove, so the longer they last the better. Good luck,

mines ohs so i will go with the 8.5 thanx

you check the gap with a wire feeler guage, and bend the electrode till the feeler guage has some resistance (not too much). I gap mine at .048, and used the $2 autolites.

On the OHV engine the passengerside plugs are a pain to get at. driver side 15 mins, passenger side 1 1/2 hours.
