Speaker popping even with faceplate out.

I have a Pioneer deck and recently I get the scratchy popping sound from my passenger front speaker. Its so annoying.

If you take the faceplate off the deck, it still does it.... where do i start? wiring for the deck?

wiring behind the speaker and the deck yes, this sounds like some sort of a dead short.

if it's used the channel might be blown. check wires behind the deck and check the leads going to the coil on the speaker, see if they are touching each other or the speaker basket.
