Recently spilled a large soft drink in the front passengers side floor. Soaked all the electronics in that corner, however the car functions normally when half key’d, but will not turn over. Bought a new (to me) ECU and installed it to no avail. AC and radio function normally. The spill didn’t seem to effect the majority of the electronics. Not sure where to go from here, so any suggestions and ideas as to getting it running again are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Fuel pump primes when switch is connected. Is resetting the switch a relevant move in this scenario? Or is the switch functional with the fuel pump priming and such ?

its easy enough to reset imo, but yes if the pump primes then the switch isnt tripped. is any of the wiring exposed? just wondering

The inertia switch is right there, but if your fuel pump is priming, the inertia switch is getting power to the pump and should not be an issue.

Are you SURE the spilled drink and the engine no-start condition are related?

Wiring was not exposed when originally spilled. Upon removing the carpet I haven’t found any obvious wires in rough condition.

Have had the same thought in the back of my head. Wanted to see if there were any obvious ideas that came to other people as to why it isn’t starting, if it were to be related to the spill. Could just be odd timing for another component to fail.

the starter does not crank?

Turn the key to on, with truck in P or N or NOT IN GEAR jumper the two large posts on the starter solenoid with a screwdriver
This should bump the starter....see if she starts this way

You should check your fuses, especially under the hood, the drink may have caused a short in the PCM wiring which could blow a fuse

also if its an auto, try putting the shifter into N then start....could be your not all the way in Park?
the starter solenoid test will tell the tale
