in my current vehicle (s10 blazer) i lose 0.8-1.2 db by stopping the roof from flexing.expo5.0 said:this thread is now super old- wow.
but i did solve that problem some of these guys were having with their roof by adding a large fiberglass panel to the rear half of the headliner. no rattles or flex and increased spl there
expo5.0 said:however, nothing sounds worse than that "flap" noise when you get large body panels like the roof flexing.
in ported applications that just means its playing below tuning frequency. shouldnt make any weird noises unless you have it over excurtingdlo said:Oh man is it nasty. Jus second to the flap of suround when a box it tuned way off for the subs and amp. You know what I mean, where the sub is bouncin round sooo hard you expect it to flop its lil body outta the box or jus rip the foam to shreads any second.

I would have to say total bs on that.Any proof?tac0meat said:148.9 w/one audiobahn ultra excursion 12 and audiobahn 275hc amp and 1 farad cap. go to bass competitions, your can get it tested "officially" and see what you got, dont get an spl meter from radio shack (they only go up to 126db).
Jl w3's are fantastic sq subs but there is no way in hell you hit those numbers.dubbedexpo said:152.4!!!!!!!!!!!! all i have is 4 JL W3 V2 12 inch subs in a ported box...

Spl cars are set up to hit one note. PERIOD. I don't care if you can play charlie daniels in it at 150db, it isn't an spl system. Just loud. Visit an IASCA DB Drag sometime.
People thinking they have an spl system is common, though. Hitting 150 doesn't make it an spl system. There are SQ cars out there doing that in shows all the time.
We didn't build SPL cars, we built LOUD one's. Big difference.
I didn't say we built SPL boxes.

BUT WHY SPEND HOW EVER MUCH MONEY TO PUT A HARD HITTING SYSTEM THAT SOUNDS LIKE **** IN UR EVERY DAY TRUCK AND GET A TROPHY FROM A COMPETION THAT ISNT WORTH ANYTHING.
I would rather roll around my nice explorer and listen to sum beats that drop and have better sound quality then most then drive around haveing ****y ass sound quality but breaks glass----- you cant go wrong with diamond audio 12''s by the way most trucks that are in competions are special modified for those competions from bussiness that try to advertise equipment![]()
Totally dependant on the install......periodHotCtyPlaya said:Man i need to get a mic so i can see what this monster will do.....anybody have a roundabout number for a 15" DD 2400W sub lol....
