I was wondering if anybody has a spoiler on their explorer. I have been looking for one for a while. If you do have one where did you get? What kind? and Can you send me a couple of pics to see how it looks like. I was about to by a spoiler by Lund but I really didn't know if it would look stupid or not.

I have a "spoiler" though I prefer to call it a wind deflector, doesn't sound as "sporty" that way. I like it so far, I like the way it looks and it seems to do a good job of keeping the back window somewhat dust free. There might be some pics of it (no closeups though) at http://bart.is-s.com/~explorers/explorer/explorer.html

Keystone makes a truck spoiler that looks pretty nice. Its not really big, and fits trucks good. I have only seen it on a expidition in person, and I think it was cool. Its kinda pricey. You can get it on WWW.carparts.com If you use the cupon that they posted earlier, its fourb002, you can get a 1/3 off. That would bring the price down alot. It sell on that site for 175. So with the cupon you could get it for like 115 plus tax and shipping. Hope this helped.

I have the turboshield rear deflector from Explorer Express. It looks very good and does a great job at keeping the rear glass clean.

Saleen wing

I like the Saleen Wing, and the Explorer X SPEC wing but unfortunatly these wings are REALLY expensive, 250 for the explorer express, and 500 for the Saleen, not even painted or primed, they are very sturdy though.

Nick-

i thought i saw the saleen one for about $300, not to say that's cheap or anything, heh. the saleen ones also really heavy, i think they even send you new rear hatch struts because the factory ones are too weak to hold up the door with the wing on it.

I have the Lund on my 98, and its more cosmetic than functional. Here is a prior thread about rear spoilers that might give you some more info. Dead Link Removed There was a member on the board by the name of WillyChu that had a Saleen wing, but I couldn't find him in the member directory, so he may no longer be here. I'll post a pic of his Ex when photopoint stops acting up. As far as the struts go with the Saleen's, I was told by one of their reps that they supply new, shorter rear window struts to keep the glass from going up as high and hitting the wing. He didn't say anything about struts for the liftgate itself, but that could have changed since I talked to them.

Man, this thread is old. I already bought a Lund windjammer, installed it, drove around with it, and gave it away because it looked cheesy. I have seen other Explorers with other spoiler that actually really look good. I really dislike the Lund. Oh well, you live and learn.

how does the lund one install on a late model, hopefully no screws in the exterior sheet metal?!?!?

RYT, how did yours install?

i'm curious, i went 2 the cruisefest nationals in dayton this weekend. there i saw a 94 X like mine, but the wing it had on it mounted 2 the roof itself, instead of the hatch like all the other wings i've seen do. it actaully looked like a wing that would be on the back of a car. has anyone ever seen a wing like this or maybe heard of doing something of that nature? all replies appreciated...thanx.

We have the one that came from the factory, and it saved my @$$ when I backed it into the garage door, or else we'd be minus a roof rack right now. Its made of a thick material and its really sturdy, I'd recommend it.

Bob, I used the double-sided tape that came with it, and I've never had a problem (tested up to 95 MPH...LOL).

Shagg, I'm sure you could mount any spoiler you want to the body or liftgate, although the beauty would be in the eye of the beholder. Come spend a week in Chicago, you will see spoilers on cars that have no business having them, but someone liked it enough to do it.

I have EGR's rear air deflector. Not too expensive, no drilling and looks pretty good. Not sure if they have a website. But maybe some other truck access. site carries EGR so you can see it

tekeman, im sorry man, your ride just rules. had to say it, it brings a tear to my eyes

Well just to defend the Lund...I got the Windjammer because it not only is a wind deflector, it also looks like a spoiler, albeit low profile. I love it. Just got it painted to match and have to reattach but this time I'm using both the 3M tape AND the screws so I'll make sure to paint and silicone the four little holes I drill. I was thinking about mounting small reverse flood lights in that thing too so we'll see how it goes this weekend.

I'm going to finally take some picts with my digital cam and get them posted here if that's allowed.
