Whenever, it gets cold, normally below 40, my wifes 99 EB starts rough. It starts right away but then idles down (almost to the point of kill) and then back up a few times before settling in. After this it is fine. This morning it was 19 degrees and it idled all the way down and killed. The second start it eventually leveled off. What is my problem here and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Assuming that it is an SOHC V6 engine.

Sounds like leaking 'O' rings on the inlet manifold. Get the OOM12 kit and change them out. I've just done mine and the old 'O' rings where stiff, the new ones are nice and flexible and it now starts perfectly and idles good too.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with my 2000/2001 limited... is this job an "easy" operation, how much did you need to tare down? I'd really like to fix it on my own, Ford says these might be the problem when I called them and they want between €450-500 to do it

In my case also the yellow "Check Engine" light came on one morning when I had these problems and I guess a leaking inlet can cause that too, or what do you think? (..Ford wants another €200.- to run diagnostics, if I could put out the light myself I could save these bucks too :D )

Is the OOM12 some kinda standard item#?

Many questions...

There are 2 versions, standard and ex, mine is the standard version and it was right at $100.00 U.S. Ex is 150.00 and stores more data, measures lateral g-forces etc.
I noticed when setting paremeters and thresholds that it can be set up metric if that helps

That's cheap... I heard something about http://www.usa.superchips.co.uk

These seems neat, less consumption and more power, + the diagnostic functions. But I guess these are a bit more $$...
